A common story no doubt; After 7 years working in both Australia and New Zealand in a variety of industry sectors from print, advertising, branding and websites and then welcoming our first child (Matilda) to the world in 2008, I decided that rather than leap back into the rigid full time world of agency land, I’d start working as an independent designer and mac operator.
Originally from and trained in Brisbane I spent my first 3 years in the industry as a designer and Mac operator in busy printers. Then after a quick hop over the ditch to Wellington, I spent the following four years as a designer in an advertising and design agency. Now for the past 2 years Ive been flying solo. However this is a slight misconception as the thriving Wellington independent creative community means Ive a whole network of talented creative partners from copywriters to photographers to access should a job require.
Equally happy as either a designer or mac operator (a rare mix) Im currently taking on both direct clients and in-house work for agencies.
